Have you read?

Assalamu aliakum,
A student brought this book to class one day but I can't remember the story:

I was thinking this might be a good pick for Together We Read in July insha'Allah. Have you read this book? If so, can you tell me about the story insha'Allah? Jazakum Allahu Khayran!

  1. Assalamu 'alaykum

AlhamduLillah my son and I have read this book many times together and enjoyed it. It is one of seven books in the "Allah the Maker Series" published by The Islamic Foundation (each book is written by a different author).

Of the seven books in the series, five books are dedicated to exploring each of the the five senses Allah has given us. The books (see titles later on)describe how we use a particular sense for appreciating Allah's creation and for worshiping Him. The other two books that make up the series are: "The Food We Eat" (about the various foods Allah provided us with) and "Animals" (about the variety of animals that Allah created.

In "Allah gave me Two Eyes to See..." the title of the book is a bit misleading since it does not only talk about the sense of sight (only the first three pages mention it), but goes on to mention the other senses: hear, taste, smell and touch. I believe this book was the first in the series. Some point after the other books were published with each focusing on one sense. So the books are: "Allah Gave Me Two Hands and Feet" (sense of touch), "Allah Gave Me Two Ears To Hear" (sense of hear), "Allah Gave Me A Nose To Smell" (sense of smell), and "Allah Gave Me A Tongue To Taste" (sense of taste).

All the books are written in beautiful, simple rhyming sentences and contain clear, colourful and attractive illustrations. My son learnt about the five senses using these books.

"Allah gave me Two Eyes to See..." gives the child a good overview of the five senses and ends with stating that Allah gives us a mind and a heart to thank and praise Him.

Sorry about this lengthy response. I hope it was of some help, inshaAllah.
